Job Summary:
The Cook will play a vital role in the preparation of all food items in accordance with standardized recipes for the Restaurant, Dining Outlet, Cafe, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, and Banquets. This position requires a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards to deliver an appealing and appetizing product. The Cook will also be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the kitchen and work areas, while minimizing waste and optimizing the cost-to-production ratio.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- Food Handlers Certification (must comply with state requirements).
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively.
- Strong decision-making skills to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action promptly and accurately.
- Proven ability to perform well in high-pressure and stressful situations.
Responsibilities:
- Approaching all interactions with guests and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, which will vary based on the hotel’s operational needs.
- Upholding high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including adherence to proper uniform and name tag policies.
- Complying at all times with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Meeting certification requirements, including Food Handlers and safety protocols, specific to the role.
- Exhibiting a friendly and warm demeanor consistently.
- Possessing thorough knowledge of menus and the requisite preparation according to hotel standards.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
- Completing necessary food and station preparations prior to the opening of the Restaurant/Dining Outlet/Cafe to guarantee efficient service to guests.
- Preparing and presenting buffet food items in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
- Maintaining a designated station on the kitchen line during operating hours to prepare food to order with the highest efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Preparing food for Banquets as specified in the Banquet Event Orders.
- Catering to the Associate Cafeteria according to the requests from restaurant leadership.
- Preparing all foods following Aimbridge Hospitality’s standard recipes, with special offerings developed under the guidance of restaurant leadership.
- Dismantling buffets and properly storing food and equipment at the conclusion of each meal period.
- Working the banquet food station as scheduled by restaurant leadership.
- Being knowledgeable about the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment.
- Practicing safe work habits at all times to prevent potential injuries to oneself or fellow associates.
- Familiarizing oneself with all hotel policies and house rules.
- Being aware of the hotel’s emergency procedures.
- Utilizing Production Charts as outlined by Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
- Always remaining attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow associates.
- Operating and maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment.
- Adhering to the "Clean As You Go" policy.
- Assisting in the proper storage and rotation of food items according to hotel procedures.
- Signing keys out and back in under supervision as needed.
- Attending meetings as required by management.
- Performing any additional tasks as requested by management.
