Job description:
Accurately and efficiently prepare and cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products while also portioning food items prior to cooking. Additional responsibilities include food and final plate preparation, which encompasses the plating and garnishing of cooked dishes, as well as preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu items.

Key Responsibilities:

– Prepare a diverse array of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items utilizing broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and various kitchen equipment.
– Assume full responsibility for the quality of all products served.
– Consistently adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
– Ensure sufficient levels of food products are stocked and maintained at line stations to facilitate smooth service periods.
– Portion food items prior to cooking in accordance with standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
– Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection ovens, flat top ranges, and refrigeration equipment.
– Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, or other cooking methods through portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and/or marinating.
– Follow proper plate presentation techniques and garnish setups for all dishes.
– Handle, store, and rotate all products according to established standards.
– Assist with food preparation tasks during off-peak periods as required.
– Properly close the kitchen each shift, following the closing checklist for kitchen stations, and assist others in this process.
– Attend all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
– Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.

Qualifications:

– A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
– At least 6 months of experience in a similar role.
– Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with managers, kitchen staff, and dining room personnel.
– Physical capability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
– Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 9 hours).
