Job description:
POSITION SUMMARY: This labor-oriented role focuses primarily on food preparation for restaurant guests in accordance with the Potomac Family Dining Group and Applebee’s brand standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
– Complete all assigned preparation tasks and set up the cooking station according to designated specifications.
– Maintain product presentations, uphold product quality, and ensure appropriate cooking times.
– Prepare all menu items following Applebee’s standardized recipes and plate presentations.
– Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
– Adhere to safe and sanitary food handling practices consistently.
– Clean and sanitize the work area before, during, and after each shift.
– Complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning tasks.
– Effectively manage inventory utilizing the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
– Control food waste, spoilage, and food quality.
– Check and record temperatures of all food items as per company guidelines.
– Receive and process all incoming food items.
– Accurately clock in tickets and ensure cook times meet or exceed company and brand standards.
– Perform general utility tasks as assigned, including:
– Scraping and pre-rinsing food from dirty dishes and placing them in the dishwashing area.
– Washing pots, pans, and trays, both by hand and using dishwashing equipment.
– Cleaning work area tables, walls, refrigeration equipment, and cooking tools.
– Disposing of trash and garbage in the designated dumpster.
– Cleaning garbage cans and trash receptacles.
– Assembling, maintaining, and breaking down dishwashing equipment.

EQUIPMENT/COMPUTER SKILLS:
– Proficient use of broilers, grills, and mid-stations within a kitchen setting.
– Familiarity with weight and measurement devices.
– Skilled in the use of cooking tools and utensils.
– Experience operating dishwashing stations and associated equipment.
