Job Description
Job Title: Line Cook / Prep Cook
Company: Upshift
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay: $15 – 20 per hour
AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $15 – $20 for a Line Cook / Prep Cook position in Detroit, MI, is generally competitive but tends to be on the lower end of the scale within the broader culinary industry. According to data from sources such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and local job market analyses, the average hourly wage for cooks in Michigan typically ranges from $15 to $22 or more, depending on experience, type of establishment, and specific culinary skills. While entry-level positions may start around $15, more experienced cooks or those in upscale restaurants can command higher wages. Therefore, while this rate is aligned with entry-level or less experienced roles, it may not fully reflect the compensation expected by more skilled cooks, which can make it less appealing for experienced candidates.
