The Reserve at Red Run, Madison Heights’ premier senior independent living facility, is seeking skilled cooks to join our team. Our modern building is designed for the next generation of seniors, featuring a state-of-the-art kitchen and a ‘cook to order’ menu that emphasizes quality and individuality. As a cook at The Reserve at Red Run, you will play a vital role in shaping the dining experience of our community members, understanding that exceptional food greatly enhances their daily lives.
The Cook will be responsible for executing and coordinating food preparation that meets or exceeds our stringent standards for quality, quantity, and service timeliness. We are particularly interested in candidates with a minimum of one year of restaurant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals for community members, ensuring high quality and presentation.
- Oversee meal service coordination and management.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas.
- Maintain accurate records related to food preparation and service.
- Receive and rotate inventory efficiently.
- Prepare meals accommodating special dietary needs and texture modifications as requested.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal food handling regulations.
- Monitor compliance with quality service standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
- Experience in large-quantity meal preparation is essential.
- Serve Safe Certification is preferred.
- Menu planning experience is a plus.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficient communication skills in English are required.
- Candidates must be able to verify eligibility to work in the United States.
- Willingness to undergo and pass a criminal background check is necessary.
- A current TB test and physical may be required.
Requirements:
- Availability to work every other weekend.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and support up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent kneeling, crouching, and bending is required.
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
