Job Summary
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with the following schedule: 6 PM – 6 AM, utilizing a 12-hour shift model that rotates through five days on, five days off, followed by two days on and two days off over a two-week period. As a Machine Operator, you will handle raw materials to complete mixing formulas, combine ingredients for batches, and package or palletize products for shipping.

Qualifications for Machine Operators at Dawn Foods
To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting various documents, including safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports effectively
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Basic mathematical skills sufficient to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various measurement units
  • Capacity to apply common sense for understanding and executing instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Problem-solving skills to navigate variable situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently
  • Forklift certification is advantageous, and the ability to become certified is required
  • Familiarity with computer operations is beneficial

Responsibilities as a Machine Operator

  • Ensure that all produced goods meet product specifications, food safety, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain high performance standards in housekeeping aligned with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), American Institute of Baking (AIB), International Food Standard (IFS), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Accurately operate computer systems associated with production processes
  • Operate additional equipment as necessary to perform specific functions
  • Follow all safety protocols in accordance with manuals, training, and batch card instructions to ensure the production of high-quality, food-safe products
  • Complete all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and GMP tasks, including pre-start checklists, scale checks, forklift checklists, labeling accuracy, and batch verification counts
  • Communicate quality, safety, scheduling, and food safety concerns promptly to leads or supervisors
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Execute all responsibilities in accordance with company GMPs, SOPs, and safety regulations
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Adhere to established Food Defense and Security protocols within the facility
  • Follow provided guidelines relative to the assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate alignment with the “Dawn Values” and support the Circle of Excellence

Work Environment
The physical demands essential for success in this role include:

  • Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, stooping, and squatting
  • Regular requirements to stand, walk, handle objects or tools, reach, talk, or hear
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
  • Capability to lift and/or move weights of 50-75 pounds regularly, and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
