The Maintenance Worker/Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring a clean and safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. Maintenance services are executed in alignment with facility policies and procedures to enhance resident comfort and improve the overall quality of life.
Key responsibilities include demonstrating expertise in the application of mechanical and technical principles for facility repairs and maintenance projects. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with facility staff and residents, addressing inquiries and promptly resolving any grievances.
You will apply building and safety codes to relevant situations and maintenance tasks, conduct scheduled maintenance throughout the facility and on all equipment, and maintain and test the emergency power system to guarantee power availability. Furthermore, you will ensure that all essential equipment—such as boiler room systems, nursing unit/medication room refrigerators, kitchen refrigeration/freezers, and laundry equipment—remains in safe operating condition.
Flexibility is essential, as the role requires the ability to adapt to change productively and manage additional tasks or projects as needed. The position requires availability to respond to facility needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in physical plant operations and equipment maintenance within an institutional setting. Experience in electrical work, plumbing, general carpentry, and drywall repair is desired. Vocational training in a skilled trade or relevant field is also preferred.
