Job description:
Under general supervision, the Manager Trainee position is designed for individuals eager to embark on a comprehensive development journey within supply chain management, commencing in January 2025. This role will focus on managing a small driver base and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, with an emphasis on ensuring the safe and timely movement of freight, load assignments, and delivering exemplary customer service. Trainees will receive guidance on complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, taking responsibility for driver compliance and adherence to company policies, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders for precise planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight.

The position will be based in Cleveland, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:
– Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and external carriers to ensure effective carrier onboarding, minimize turnover, and enhance productivity.
– Provide assistance during personnel absences and contribute to projects aimed at optimizing fleet operations and driving profitability.
– Learn the management of personnel, including the training and onboarding of drivers and staff, while supporting internal and third-party systems.
– Gain proficiency in optimizing fleet efficiency and profitability, offering recommendations for improvement, measuring performance indicators, and delivering customized reporting and financial analyses during client meetings.
– Acquire knowledge in inventory management, asset allocation, and the assignment of drivers to effectively balance equipment distribution within the market.
– Perform administrative tasks such as payroll processing, managing the Net-Revenue budget, addressing driver concerns, conducting accident reviews, maintaining documentation, and generating operational or financial reports.
– Oversee yard management activities, including equipment inspections, parts replacement, repairs, and coordinating maintenance to ensure timely preventative services and the resolution of safety-related mechanical issues.
– Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to address service-related challenges, routing issues, and other operational problems as they arise, including on-call scenarios.
– Uphold the Company’s safety culture by delivering daily safety messages, conducting monthly briefings, facilitating quarterly training, and enforcing safety policies to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
– Manage load assignments and the planning, routing, and monitoring of freight movement to ensure timely service that meets customer expectations, while adjusting for any exceptions or environmental factors affecting delivery schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:
– High School Diploma or GED, with up to four years of equivalent education, experience, and training, alongside current enrollment in a degree program with up to two years of relevant education or experience; or a Bachelor’s degree. Candidate must be open to working various shifts, including nights and weekends, and willing to travel to account, customer, and company events when necessary.
