Job description:
Under general supervision, the Manager Trainee position is structured to provide comprehensive training in managing small driver counts and/or non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends. The incumbent will ensure the safe and timely transportation of freight, coordinate load assignments, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role includes training on compliance with DOT regulations and involves working with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to enhance new carrier onboarding, reduce turnover, and optimize productivity.
- Step in for absent personnel and contribute to special projects aimed at enhancing fleet operations and achieving profitability.
- Acquire skills in personnel management, including the training and orientation of drivers and/or employees, as well as guidance on internal and customer systems.
- Gain proficiency in maximizing fleet operation efficiency and profitability, with a focus on continuous improvement through measurement of key performance indicators and provision of tailored reporting and financial analysis during customer interactions.
- Understand the management of inventory, assets, customer pools, and the assignment of drivers to optimize equipment utilization in the market.
- Attend to administrative tasks such as payroll processing, Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, documentation, resolution of pay discrepancies, analysis of P&L statements, invoicing, and generation of operational or financial reports.
- Learn to oversee yard operations, which include inspecting equipment, performing repairs, and coordinating with maintenance to ensure timely preventative maintenance and resolution of safety-related mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to address service issues, routing or planning challenges, mechanical concerns, and accessorial pay issues as they arise, including handling situations while on call.
- Promote and uphold the Company’s safety culture by delivering daily safety messages, conducting monthly driver safety briefings, initiating quarterly training sessions, and enforcing company policies to guarantee compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Strategically assign loads and oversee the planning, routing, and monitoring of freight movement to ensure safe, timely service while meeting customer requirements, including management of freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments based on various logistical factors.

Minimum Qualification:
- A High School Diploma or GED with up to four years of equivalent education, experience, and training, alongside current enrollment in a degree program with up to two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends as required, and must be willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations as necessary.
Preferred Qualification:

Compensation:
