Hiring Salary Range: $85,500.00 – $112,000.00. This range represents the hiring range, and salaries are determined on an individual basis considering skills and experience. Job Summary
The Market Analyst is responsible for managing ongoing contract and pricing requirements for the business unit. The incumbent will work in a team-oriented environment and must be adaptable to changing workload demands. This role focuses on contract management and strategic marketing initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
Tariff and Contract Management
- Establish market rates for rail movements in accordance with CN Pricing processes and the CN Playbook.
- Collaborate with Market Managers to ensure timely processing of pricing data to meet publication deadlines.
- Review and manage customer contracts and agreements or renewals on behalf of the Sales department.
- Provide guidance to Account Managers and Accounting Representatives regarding customer disputes.
- Assist in developing strategic account plans for national customers as well as market strategy plans for Market Managers.
Research
- Evaluate market and modal competition, costs, service requirements, and equipment availability.
- Conduct studies related to corridor pricing structures and modal competition.
- Contribute to strategies for business segments and pricing initiatives.
- Review the nature and scope of segments in relation to customer requirements.
Costing
- Work to enhance CN’s cost structure.
- Assist the Market Manager in developing the Price Volume Mix Division (PVMD) for major contract renewals.
Working Conditions
The position is situated in a standard office environment, with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must exhibit flexibility in response to workload demands and should be capable of meeting tight deadlines while effectively managing pressure and stress.
Requirements
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of marketing experience.
- Proficiency in using Tableau and other data analysis tools.
- Previous experience in transportation, supply chain management, distribution, or logistics is preferred; any experience in these areas would be considered an asset.
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
