Responsibilities:
As a leader within the team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Training department staff in your areas of expertise, including mentoring Apprentices.
  • Conducting preventative maintenance on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, as well as related components.
  • Repairing and maintaining various mechanical systems and components, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Assisting the team in maintaining services and monitoring the operation of HVAC equipment and related mechanical systems, including refrigeration and cooling systems in both general areas and kitchens.
  • Identifying repair and maintenance projects that require the assistance of contractors or vendors, participating in cost estimates and evaluations, and monitoring their work.
  • Accessing and adjusting computerized building management system controls (such as Inncom, TRANE, and Niagara4).
  • Utilizing the CMMS system for corrective and preventative maintenance tasks, tracking and closing assigned work orders, and assisting team members in managing and completing work orders.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of materials, systems, and code requirements related to the maintenance of hospitality facilities.
  • Responding to emergencies and facility closures, including those due to adverse weather, to ensure that all facilities are secured and operational.
  • Adhering to and understanding all safety procedures related to facility operations.
  • Training less-experienced staff on safety protocols related to maintenance operations.
  • Assisting in safety inspections and maintaining appropriate records and reports.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years of education or training in HVAC or an Associate’s Degree in facilities maintenance trades (HVAC preferred).
  • At least 5 years of maintenance or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting (HVAC preferred).
  • Proficiency in using a variety of tools and power equipment and the ability to train others in their use.

Key competencies include:

  • Planning and coordinating work, along with tracking and planning preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports in both computerized and written formats, compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Effective use of email and automated scheduling systems.
  • Proficiency in arithmetic calculations.
  • A strong understanding and application of health and safety regulations.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to optimize efficiencies using automated maintenance management and service request tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, climb ladders, operate power tools, and work around mechanical equipment, including the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motion tasks.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
