Job description:
Under the general direction of the Director or Manager of Plant Operations, or their designated representative, the incumbent will oversee and coordinate the activities of all plumbers and support staff engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing infrastructure. This role mandates a commitment to performing duties in a safe, effective, and efficient manner while addressing customer needs. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as a Special Project Coordinator, conducting system analysis, monitoring, and coordinating the activities of contracted service or construction companies. They will also facilitate training for other trades personnel during the startup of newly constructed or renovated areas, and the installation of new equipment, as well as during annual in-service programs. Responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of dust barriers while executing job tasks.
The incumbent is expected to accurately complete work orders and daily timesheets, submitting them promptly. They will monitor and maintain necessary supplies and tools in an organized manner, ensuring proper inventory levels and that tools are functional and easily accessible. The cleanliness and orderliness of work and production areas will be maintained to meet management and regulatory standards. Notifications regarding supply needs should be communicated to management in a timely manner via material request forms.
Essential Functions include:
– Repairing plumbing fixtures throughout the facility
– Executing preventative maintenance assignments on required equipment
– Maintaining the hospital’s sewer system, including drain maintenance
– Troubleshooting supply water issues and implementing corrective actions
– Reading and interpreting facility mechanical blueprints
– Installing new equipment, including fixtures and systems

Qualifications:
– Required:
– High School Diploma or equivalent
– A minimum of 8 years of documented lead experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing infrastructure within a commercial, industrial, or institutional facility of 400,000 square feet.
– A valid Plumber License issued by the State of Michigan.
