Join our Meat Department and play a vital role in our operations! Nino Salvaggio is seeking a dedicated Meat Associate for our Clinton Township location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present various meat cuts and products in the display counter according to Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace standards.
- Adhere to established procedures for receiving and unloading incoming shipments.
- Stock meat cases to ensure product quality, safety, and proper rotation in accordance with company guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards set forth by the company and regulatory agencies, including state, federal, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Health.
- Assist customers in selecting meat and poultry, providing guidance on types, preparation methods, recipes, and cooking tips.
- Weigh, price, wrap, and prepare meat selections for customer orders.
- Prepare kabobs for customers upon request.
- Follow company recipes for the preparation of various meat selections.
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Operate necessary equipment in line with company policies and safety protocols.
- Stay informed about the quality standards, pricing, varieties, and preparation methods relevant to department products.
- Manage damaged or spoiled products according to company protocols and help control inventory loss.
- Comply with all state, county, and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
- Promptly inform management of any safety concerns or equipment issues.
- Assist in the training of new associates as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
- Availability to work some weekends is required.
- Ability to work in extreme cold and wet or humid conditions.
- Consistent ability to work in an environment maintained at 45° to 55° Fahrenheit.
- Proficient in counting, separating, and weighing all meat products.
- Capacity to stand and/or walk for shifts of 8 or more hours.
- Ability to regularly bend, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Proficient in using knives, box cutters, slicers, and meat cutters (must be 18 years or older to operate slicing and cutting equipment).
