Job description:

Nino Salvaggio is actively seeking a Meat Associate for our St. Clair Shores location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and arrange meat cuts and products in the display counter in accordance with Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace guidelines.
  • Adhere to established procedures for receiving and unloading incoming shipments within the department.
  • Stock meat cases to ensure optimal quality, protection, and proper rotation of products in the display cases and cooler.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements as mandated by the company, as well as state, federal, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Health regulations.
  • Provide customers with assistance in selecting meat and poultry, including guidance on types, preparation, recipes, and cooking methods.
  • Accurately weigh, price, wrap, prepare, and cut meat selections for customers.
  • Prepare kabobs for customer orders.
  • Follow company recipes for meat preparation.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Operate all necessary and authorized equipment according to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of quality standards, pricing, varieties, and preparation methods for the products available in the department.
  • Manage damaged and/or spoiled products in accordance with company and departmental guidelines, while assisting in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • Comply with all state, county, and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
  • Promptly notify management of any safety or equipment concerns or violations.
  • Assist in training new associates as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in extreme cold, wet, and/or humid conditions.
  • Capable of consistently working in an environment at temperatures of 45° to 50°.
  • Ability to accurately count, separate, and weigh all meat products.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods (8 hours or more).
  • Must be able to regularly bend, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficient in using knives, box cutters, slicers, and meat cutters (applicants must be 18 years or older to operate slicers and meat cutters).
