Job description:
Apex Skin is a rapidly growing skincare facility dedicated to empowering its employees to provide exceptional patient experiences. We are currently seeking skilled candidates for the role of Medical Assistant. This position encompasses both administrative and clinical responsibilities, including maintaining patient records, preparing patients and examination rooms, assisting physicians during examinations, and performing front-desk duties. The ideal candidates will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and exhibit remarkable organizational capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.

This is a part-time position requiring 24 hours per week, compensated on an hourly basis. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation: $16 – $19 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions:

– Escort patients to examination rooms in accordance with scheduled appointment times. Gather brief medical histories and vital signs as dictated by the patient’s chief complaint. Collect or update patient medication information and prepare exam rooms in anticipation of procedures.
– Accurately transcribe notes during visits and ensure comprehensive documentation of patient care in compliance with legal practice, state health regulations, and Medicare standards.
– Assist physicians during biopsies and surgical procedures.
– Educate patients on their treatment plans as established by the physician, ensuring clear understanding of treatment procedures, medication usage, and compliance responsibilities before the patient leaves the office.
– Clean and maintain examination rooms post-visit.
– Organize and maintain patient records and charts.
– Provide appropriate and professional emergency care as needed.
– Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in accordance with practice policies, including OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
– Monitor and fulfill laboratory documentation requests, maintain biopsy and culture logs, respond to telephone inquiries, and manage team tasks through the EMR system.
– Handle all clinical phone inquiries in collaboration with healthcare providers.
– Manage follow-up on biopsy results for patients.
– Assist with autoclave procedures and quality control measures.
– Perform clerical functions as directed, such as obtaining prior authorizations, scheduling new and follow-up appointments, answering telephone calls, and scanning documents into the EMR.
– Travel to other office locations may be required.

– Valid certification as a Certified (Registered) Medical Assistant or in the process of obtaining certification.
