Job description:

Greet patients as they arrive and depart from our clinic with warmth and professionalism. The Front Desk/Receptionist plays a pivotal role in establishing a welcoming atmosphere for patients. Key responsibilities include greeting patients in a professional manner, updating and verifying patient information, including obtaining patient ID and insurance details, processing copayments, and registering patients in the billing system. This position also entails facilitating effective communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff, addressing scheduling inquiries, and providing additional assistance as required.

Schedule: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. or 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and check in patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ensure the accurate entry, updating, and verification of insurance information and patient demographics, utilizing various medical computer programs.
  • Complete the patient registration process by meticulously reviewing accounts and compliance-related documents, obtaining any missing information necessary for registration.
  • Prepare required paperwork for patient visits.
  • Verify patient benefits and eligibility as needed, collect necessary copayments, deductibles, and co-insurance, and promptly address inquiries regarding account status, payment arrangements, and concerns. Resolve billing disputes or forward them to the appropriate individual for resolution.
  • Monitor patient flow, adjust workflows accordingly, and inform clinical staff of any important information or changes.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, guests, back office staff, and providers.
  • Reconcile cash against daily charge and cash reports.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments as necessary.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain new patient charts and medical records.
  • Perform clerical tasks, including copying, sorting, scanning, and faxing.
  • Efficiently check out patients, ensuring proper collection of copayments, outstanding balances, and fees, as well as verifying the completion of all forms and updating medical records as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area and waiting room while replenishing necessary supplies.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including standard operating protocols and the employee handbook.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience as a telephone operator or in a high call volume environment.
  • Entry-level experience encouraged.
