Job description:
Responsible for welcoming donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to ensure donor eligibility for the plasma pheresis process.

In accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assist qualified donors throughout the screening process. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing self-administered health histories, addressing basic medical inquiries related to the donation process, referring donors to medical personnel as necessary, and executing health screening assessments, which encompass vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Obtain blood samples through finger sticks to measure donor hematocrit and total protein levels.

Upon successful completion of the requisite training, educate new donors about the utilization of therapeutic products derived from donated plasma. Provide comprehensive information on the screening process, health screening tests, appointment scheduling, donation fees, center policies, nutrition guidelines, and any other relevant details. Ensure that all donor inquiries are addressed promptly, accurately, and in a professional manner.

May assist in the registration of new and transfer donors, contingent upon the completion of appropriate training and the operational needs of the center.

May handle incoming telephone calls, providing information to callers or transferring calls to the appropriate team members as needed.

Maintain vigilance and responsiveness to any reactions donors may experience during or after the pheresis process, promptly notifying the appropriate staff when necessary.

Communicate any donor flow issues to the Group Leader or Supervisor.

Ensure the accurate recording of donor information in the electronic donor management system, adhering to outlined SOPs.

Familiarize oneself with the policies and procedures associated with hyperimmune programs at the center, if applicable.

Uphold a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring that operating supplies and necessary documentation are readily available. Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies. Promote safety in all actions.

Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel, donor, and center information.

May receive cross-training in other areas to address business requirements.

Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization’s discretion, to meet business needs.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) months of experience in a clerical or customer service position is preferred, ideally within a medical or health provider setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations is essential.
Working Conditions
- Ability to comprehend, retain, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Must be capable of understanding and following basic procedures and guidelines.
- Visual and auditory capabilities to interact with customers and monitor equipment operation are required.
- Ability to perform tasks while standing and walking for up to 100% of the time.
- Requires reaching, bending, kneeling, and possessing a high degree of manual dexterity.
- Occasionally required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens is frequent.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn while executing specific tasks or in designated areas.
- Flexibility to work overtime and extended hours to accommodate center operational needs is required.
