Job description:
The Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan, a distinguished non-profit trade association, has been dedicated to serving commercial contractors since 1951 by providing plan room services and facilitating access to bid opportunities. This position is based in our Traverse City office and requires an in-person presence.

We seek a candidate who demonstrates technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, self-motivation, strong problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric approach. This role encompasses member services, including marketing events, sales, data entry for construction addendums, and offering technical support for our proprietary bid software.

The successful candidate will allocate half of their time to posting addendums and project information in our software platform for member access. The other half will involve assisting members, supporting sales efforts, planning events, and contributing to our marketing initiatives across social media, e-newsletters, and print materials. Each day will present unique challenges based on member requests, and the ability to adapt while maintaining accuracy is crucial. Our small team services over 300 member companies and several thousand individuals, so agility and composure in a dynamic environment are essential.

A friendly demeanor and a customer-oriented mindset are critical for success in this position. Preferred qualifications include a combination of knowledge in the commercial construction process, sales experience, hardware and software troubleshooting expertise, marketing acumen, graphic design skills, event planning experience, and database management capabilities.

This role requires the candidate to lift 50-pound rolls of paper to operate our plotter, and some standing for extended periods may be necessary. Reliable transportation to our Traverse City office and various event locations within the county—approximately six times a year—is required. A commitment to working on-site in our office is mandatory.
