Job description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Member Services Representative to join our team in a full-time day position. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional customer service to Planet Fitness members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring a welcoming and “Judgement Free” environment. Bilingual candidates in English and Spanish are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service/Front Desk Activities:

  • Warmly greet members and guests, delivering outstanding customer service that makes everyone feel welcome.
  • Answer phone calls with a friendly demeanor, assisting callers with various inquiries.
  • Facilitate member check-ins, conduct tours, and assist with new member sign-ups, while logging amenities and communicating updates and events to members and guests.
  • Address member questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Process beverage or merchandise purchases using the point of sale system.
  • Utilize the POS system to assist with issuing new membership cards, changing addresses, and addressing billing or payment inquiries.

Club Cleanliness and Maintenance:

  • Maintain a clean and orderly front desk and lobby area, going above and beyond to uphold standards.
  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks such as mopping spills, removing trash, cleaning windows and mirrors, and re-racking weights.
  • Ensure all exercise equipment and tanning beds are regularly cleaned.
  • Conduct routine cleaning and stocking of restrooms and wet areas.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Candidates for this position must undergo a 7-year criminal background check within the first week of employment, with continued employment contingent upon a satisfactory outcome.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to interact positively and professionally with members and co-workers, surpassing member expectations.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Possess an upbeat, positive, and professional demeanor.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED Certification within the required timeframe and retain the physical capacity to administer CPR in emergencies.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods; must frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and perform repetitive hand motions.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate weights (up to 50 lbs).
  • Effective communication skills, able to converse continuously in person or over the phone during shifts.
  • Maintain the physical capacity to administer CPR in the event of a medical emergency.
  • Adequate visual acuity with or without correction.
