Annual Wage Range: $123,200.00 – $169,400.00
Other Compensation: Eligible for the Short-Term Incentive program and additional applicable bonuses

Grace is seeking an Operations Manager for our South Haven, MI site. This role will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and financial performance of our manufacturing areas and will play a vital role as a member of our Leadership team, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidate will lead four production crews and other site personnel to achieve safety, quality, and production objectives. The standard schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, with a commitment to 40-hour work weeks and the potential for overtime as necessary, given our 24/7 operational nature.

The South Haven facility specializes in producing a diverse portfolio of products for the specialty pharmaceutical sector, focusing specifically on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). This site features a current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) kilo lab, a pilot plant, and capabilities for custom manufacturing at commercial volumes, fully equipped to develop and manufacture tailored drug intermediates and APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of API products in compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) safety and FDA quality regulations.
  • Lead the operations team towards achieving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), production, and quality targets.
  • Manage staff effectively to promote a cohesive working environment.
  • Foster and encourage a culture of continuous improvement across all operations.
  • Facilitate daily production reviews and planning sessions with engineering and operations teams.
  • Conduct weekly schedule reviews that involve collaboration and planning with business, Sales, R&D, Quality Assurance (QA), and other site functions.
  • Oversee the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and site absorption planning, ensuring monthly production performance aligns with AOP targets.
  • Manage production updates, forecasts, and operational plan reviews to drive effective decision-making.
  • Concentrate on improving production yields, cycle times (Overall Equipment Efficiency – OEE), scheduling, and managing fixed costs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, with a strong preference for Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, including leadership and management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cGMP manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with API Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMO).
  • Demonstrated management experience in similar settings.
