Position Overview and Requirements

MAXIMUS is seeking a highly skilled Microsoft 365 Manager – Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will support the implementation, testing, and maintenance of enterprise-level Microsoft 365 services. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, managerial proficiency, and strategic insight to effectively oversee the administration of Microsoft 365 within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team by establishing clear job expectations and objectives, fostering accountability, and providing guidance through planning, monitoring, and appraising performance. Support team members in their professional growth through coaching and development opportunities.
  • Ensure optimal levels of system and infrastructure availability through proactive management.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of systems and critical processes, including reviewing system and application logs and confirming the completion of scheduled tasks.
  • Provide third-level support for operational issues to expedite resolution of critical incidents, which may require occasional off-hours and weekend availability, as well as on-call support.
  • Collaborate with corporate IT teams and project stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
  • Act as the primary liaison for project communications, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of IT project statuses and issues, coordinating resource requirements, and articulating project needs and constraints to implementation teams.
  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for business processes, identifying methods for measurement and monitoring.
  • Gather feedback regarding process performance and evaluate the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistent delivery of value.
  • Collaborate with operations and IT teams to perform root cause analyses of incidents.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of actions to ensure problem resolution and to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Monitor and assess application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes.
  • Transform business requirements into system specifications and functional designs by creating detailed documentation for system changes.
  • Oversee the execution of testing strategies relevant to the systems of interest.
  • Recommend system enhancements to address business challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Daily Duties:

  • Oversee the daily management and guidance of the team responsible for Microsoft 365 enterprise environments and additional products supported by the team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings.
  • Support the career development of team members.
  • Coordinate necessary systems maintenance and monitoring efforts.
  • Implement corporate security practices and policies for all systems supported by the team.
  • Participate in meetings and provide status updates on ongoing projects.
  • Direct the team’s efforts on multiple concurrent projects and establish appropriate goals for team members to foster development and project completion.
  • Manage the infrastructure of all Microsoft 365 services across multiple tenants.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with business stakeholders, peer groups, and IT management.
  • Engage in complex integration projects involving hybrid Microsoft 365 configurations.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team to develop and refine processes that adhere to best security practices for Microsoft 365 services.
  • Familiarity with CMMC and NIST requirements is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Microsoft 365 Commercial, GCC, and GCC High tenant licensing models is also beneficial.
  • Build partnerships with IT front-line support teams to facilitate effective communication of process changes and to provide education and guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with all Change Management protocols for system modifications.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing a team, either directly or through subordinate supervisors, with responsibility for departmental coordination, results, cost management, and staffing.
  • Experience in addressing diverse issues that require evaluation of numerous factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Familiarity with operational processes and policies, utilizing established methods to obtain solutions.
  • Ability to act as an advisor to team members to meet schedules and resolve issues.
  • Capability to develop and administer schedules and performance requirements, potentially managing budget responsibilities.
  • Frequent interaction with team members, customers, and peer managers concerning functional area operations.
  • Proven experience leading cooperative efforts among project team members.
  • Ability to determine resource utilization in order to achieve project goals and schedules.
  • Provide guidance to subordinates within established company policies.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that impact the organization.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in leading complex technology projects is required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in IT people management is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to diplomatically navigate conflicts and find mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Capability to obtain a 6C security clearance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business units for Microsoft 365 initiatives.
  • Commitment to supporting the growth and career development of direct reports.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 tenants in a large enterprise environment is preferred.
  • Experience with hybrid deployments and migrations within Microsoft 365 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMMC and NIST requirements is a plus.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 Commercial, GCC, and GCC High tenant licensing models is beneficial.
  • Capacity to sit for up to 80% of the time.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Regular use of computers, telephones, and office equipment (copier, fax, scanner).

Salary Range for this Position:

  • Annual Base Pay Minimum: $96,500.00
