Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster.The Level II Mechanic would have an important role on the Pratt Miller Motorsports Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Mechanic OversightProvide direction, communicate requirements, and ensure accountability to team and company objectivesMentoring and training of Associate and Level 1 mechanics to align process and quality of work with overall team expectationIdentify opportunities for improvement and lead the plan to realize improvementsSupport and guide Level 1 and Associate Mechanics to follow processes and use resources available to complete tasks accurately and timelyVehicle PreparationPrepare vehicle ahead of each event ensuring that all pre-event development tasks have been accounted forWork closely with Crew Chief, Car chief, and Race Engineer to prioritize vehicle reliability and performance developmentPrepare car assemblies to the prints and engineering requirementsRefine and develop thorough practices and understanding of all subsystems of the vehiclesSpare Inventory and TrackingUtilizing Pratt Miller database software to track mileageWorking with Crew Chief and Pratt Miller departments to order spares as requiredTrackside ExecutionResponsible to ensure that the mechanics and the car are ready to execute all phases of the eventVehicle service and preparationPit stop execution – Tire changingAdditional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)Shop ExecutionOrganization and cleanliness of work areaAdditional Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessarySupport vehicle development and testing in addition to standard race team operationsProvide constructive feedback on product needs and processesDevelop leadership skillsWork with the Car Chiefs, Engineers, and Operation Manager to create a common level of preparation on racecarsPositive attitude with emphasis on teamworkLook for and identify ways to improve your skillsetIdentify issues and help propose solutions to Crew Chief and Car ChiefsHelp with feedback on long-term racecar planningUnderstand and refine the skills and knowledge needed to accurately make changes to the car tracksideFocus on learning and enhancing understanding of the vehicle systemsAdditional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)Valid passport or ability to obtain a valid passport for North American and International travelEducation and Experience5 years or greater of Motorsports experience with a focus on mechanical vehicle preparation, car development, and event executionExperience working in a team to achieve program goals and continuously improveWork Environment/Physical DemandsStress may occur periodicallyTypical shop days start at 7am. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
