Job Type: Full-time, 3rd Shift
Hourly Range: $15.00 – $17.00

To ensure that all areas of the Assisted Living Center are kept clean and odor-free, thereby providing a safe, pleasant, and homelike environment for our residents. The role involves maintaining all flat laundry items, including bed linens, towels, face cloths, table linens, napkins, and aprons in a clean and sanitized condition, ensuring they are properly folded and stored for immediate use. Additionally, the responsibility includes managing residents’ personal laundry—treating spots and stains, mending, washing and drying according to manufacturer guidelines, folding or hanging items on hangers, and returning them promptly. Ironing will be performed as required.

Qualifications:
Candidates must exhibit a positive and respectful attitude towards the elderly, including individuals who may be physically frail or experience dementia. The ability to read, write, and follow directions in English is essential. Candidates should demonstrate maturity and an ability to effectively manage the demands of the job. While prior experience in health care, hotel housekeeping, or laundry services is preferred, it is not a prerequisite.

Successful candidates must be able to pass state-mandated criminal background checks and random drug screenings.

Essential Functions:

  1. Conduct thorough cleaning of all assigned resident apartments, which includes vacuuming, washing windows, dusting, and cleaning toilets, showers, sinks, and bathroom floors.
  2. Empty resident waste baskets, while carefully checking for any accidentally disposed items such as hearing aids, dentures, eyeglasses, or valuables.
  3. Clean all assigned common areas, including the dining room, beverage area, lobby, and community room, involving dusting, vacuuming, window washing, and polishing chrome or brass fixtures.
  4. Dust all furniture, light fixtures, handrails, baseboards, and other surfaces as required.
  5. Clean and sanitize both common and resident bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors, while polishing chrome and stainless steel fixtures. Replenish paper towels and toilet tissue, and replace soap dispensers when necessary.
  6. Inspect furniture for debris, spots, nicks, etc., reporting or repairing as appropriate.
  7. Dispose of trash properly by removing it from the building to the dumpster, and ensure proper recycling methods for cardboard and other materials.
  8. Employ safe and proper techniques when using chemicals and cleaning solutions, following all directions for product use and equipment operation.
  9. Store cleaning products, tools, supplies, and housekeeping carts appropriately.
  10. Collect soiled laundry from designated areas.
  11. Sort laundry, inspecting for spots, stains, or tears, and address any issues as needed.
  12. Launder resident personal items according to label instructions, ensuring that resident laundry is not mixed.
  13. Fold or hang laundered items according to the resident’s preferences.
  14. Iron items as needed.
  15. Return laundered items to residents promptly.
  16. Utilize and maintain equipment properly.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a goodwill ambassador for the Assisted Living Center.
  2. Adhere to Life Safety policies and participate in periodic drills.
  3. Engage in available training opportunities.
  4. Report any safety and health hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  5. Collaborate effectively with colleagues across shifts.
  6. Report to work as scheduled.
  7. Treat all residents with dignity and respect.
  8. Monitor residents for any changes in condition, whether physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral.
  9. Communicate any observed changes in condition to the Shift Supervisor.
  10. Follow infection control protocols diligently.
  11. Uphold all Resident Rights, including confidentiality.
  12. Comply with guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned or necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the living center.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  2. Capability to stand, bend, twist, turn, stoop, squat, sit, kneel, pull, push, and walk long distances on hard surfaces for extended periods.
