Position Overview
The role involves delivering materials to job sites, inspecting and maintaining the truck, reporting shortages and claims to the supervisor, and assisting with the loading and storage of materials. A CDL is not required, though certain state certifications may be necessary.

Essential Job Duties

  • Operates vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Contributes positively to the work environment.
  • Verifies orders for accuracy.
  • Organizes and secures loads for transport.
  • Secures supervisor approval on all loads for proper count and condition.
  • Aids in maintaining cleanliness and order in the yard and warehouse.
  • Delivers and unloads materials to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Adheres to guidelines provided by the supervisor.
  • Conducts daily equipment inspections.
  • Records all merchandise returned by truck.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, including delivery tickets and credit slips.
  • Provides exemplary customer service.
  • Assists in unloading materials returned for credit.
  • Communicates customer messages while on the job.
  • Supports the supervisor, other employees, and various work areas as assigned.
  • Complies with all company policies and protocols.
  • Engages in and completes assigned training.
  • May be subject to DOT and FMCSA regulations and restrictions.
  • Primarily responsible for delivering raw materials to customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Preferred minimum education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • Preferred minimum experience: Two years of experience driving trucks, particularly with lumber dumping.
  • Proficient in basic math, reading orders, writing instructions, and completing forms.
  • Capable of effective communication with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to constructively manage conflicts and recognize potential issues.
  • Knowledge of and ability to employ safe lifting techniques.
  • Maintains a current operator’s license and complies with company driver qualification requirements.
  • Physical demands include bending, twisting, and lifting, with the ability to lift 100 lbs or more repeatedly.
  • Proficient with or able to learn current technologies, including smartphones, GPS, and other relevant business applications.
