Position Summary
The Operations Manager will report directly to the General Manager and play a pivotal role in the administration, planning, budgeting, and overall direction of the Center’s operations. This encompasses both front and back of house services, technical services, information technology, event conversions, custodial services, and equipment inventory control. The Operations Manager ensures an effective and cost-efficient program by overseeing the operations budget and fulfilling related daily responsibilities as required.

The role involves coordinating all aspects of facility operations, including budgeting, purchasing, and directing the maintenance and operation of various systems and equipment such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, custodial, grounds upkeep, audio-visual technology, telecommunications systems, security systems, smoke/fire detection, and traffic control. Additionally, the Operations Manager serves as the facility’s safety chairman, ensuring a secure environment for both the public and employees.

This position offers an annual salary ranging from $50,000 to $60,000, accompanied by a robust benefits package for full-time roles, which includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off encompassing vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays.

This position will remain open until June 20, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in the overall daily operation and maintenance of the facilities.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the operational workflow for all event changeovers; engage with staff to identify and resolve issues; assign tasks and monitor project workflows; evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
  • Select, train, motivate, and assess staff performance; facilitate staff training; work collaboratively with employees to address deficiencies; implement disciplinary actions and termination procedures when necessary.
  • Coordinate and review the work plans for changeovers, facility maintenance, and operations; engage with staff to resolve challenges; oversee task assignments and workflow monitoring; assess work outputs and methods.
  • Coordinate labor hours for staff, inmates, and temporary workers.
  • Report labor allocations to the Director of Finance.
  • Participate in the development and management of the Operations budget, forecasting staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies needs; monitor expenditures and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate facility arrangements and supervise contractors’ work, including equipment rental and utilization of City/County resources.
  • Promptly report any issues to the General Manager.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to safety protocols and operate efficiently.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Order maintenance supplies and materials within budget guidelines; receive and maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain the hazardous materials communication program, including safety data sheets and necessary records/permits; stay informed about relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed record-keeping system, including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.
  • Possess experience and practical knowledge of tractors, skid steers, arena grooming equipment, groundskeeping equipment, alongside electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an operations role within an arena, convention center, or public assembly facility, with an emphasis on setup/housekeeping and event coordination, including progressive supervisory responsibilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) is preferred; a High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, including exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule encompassing early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of consecutive days.
