Job description:

The Farmington Hills, MI site, established in 2005, encompasses a 50,000 square foot facility with approximately 150 dedicated team members. Our primary focus is on plasma spray coating (HA, TPS) for spinal and large joint orthopedic implants, contributing to a longer and more active life for our patients. Shift Details:
1st Shift (DET)

Position Overview:
The Operations Technician, Blasting is responsible for inspecting incoming products to approve or reject them based on established criteria. Key tasks include applying special tape to protect designated areas, performing abrasive blasting on specified surfaces, and preparing the product for the subsequent coating process. This role requires meticulous craftsmanship and a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all mandatory training.
  • Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables for safe transportation of products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
  • Identify and report faulty equipment and defective materials to the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using tools such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, measuring instruments, and surface plates as required.
  • Perform weekly housekeeping tasks in accordance with the 5S schedule.
  • Follow work orders to execute operations on various parts and products.
  • Reinforce safety expectations and ensure adherence to safety practices, reporting any concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Support quality and compliance by following all procedures and instructions defined by the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Employ fine motor skills and excellent visual acuity to inspect products, apply protective tape, and prepare items for coating processes.
  • After the coating operation, conduct a final inspection of the product before forwarding it to the Final Inspection area.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Experience Requirements:

  • No prior work experience required, although manufacturing experience and familiarity with FDA regulatory environments are preferred.

Knowledge and Skills for Success:
