The Farmington Hills, MI facility, established in 2005, spans 50,000 square feet and employs around 150 dedicated professionals. As an Operations Technician in Blasting, you will be responsible for inspecting incoming products, ensuring quality standards are met through rejecting or approving items, and preparing products for the coating process. Your role will involve applying protective materials, performing blasting operations, and ensuring products are properly prepared for final inspection. This position requires meticulous craftsmanship and keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all necessary training.
- Safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment.
- Identify and report faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using various measuring tools including calipers, comparators, and surface plates as required.
- Execute weekly housekeeping tasks as per the 5S schedule.
- Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
- Reinforce safety practices and address any issues or concerns with the Supervisor.
- Comply with all procedures, work instructions, and documentation pertaining to the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Utilize fine motor skills and excellent eyesight for inspecting incoming products, applying protective tape, conducting blasting, and preparing items for the coating operation.
- Conduct final inspections after coating, ensuring readiness for the Final Inspection area.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- No prior work experience is required; however, manufacturing experience is advantageous.
- Experience within an FDA-regulated environment is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Working knowledge of time management and manufacturing safety protocols.
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools and standard operating procedures.
- Basic understanding of quality management principles and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in data entry with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to read blueprints.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Capability to move about the facility and handle various items and equipment as required.
- Regular communication and interaction with team members.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to noise on occasion.
