Job description:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The incumbent will be responsible for the selection, measurement, and fitting of eyewear, adhering closely to the spectacle prescription specifications provided by our physicians.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Customize each patient’s spectacle prescription utilizing the E.A.R.N. for Eyewear Consultants methodology and address any previous eyewear issues.
– Communicate the advantages of the preferred lens family of products to patients.
– Maintain an in-depth knowledge of frame lines and materials to ensure accurate pre-adjustment of frames prior to measurement.
– Conduct and meticulously document various required measurements essential for lens fabrication.
– Accurately input and process eyewear orders into the optical laboratory software.
– Oversee and ensure follow-up on eyewear orders from initiation through to completion and delivery.
– Ensure that visual displays and eyewear products are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with the store-specific plan-o-gram.
– Interpret, explain, and apply vision insurance coverage effectively.
– Assist with the dispensing, adjusting, and troubleshooting of eyewear.
– Support front desk operations, including patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, and insurance eligibility verification.
– Perform neutralization and verification of spectacle prescriptions using both auto and manual lensometry, as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
– High school diploma or GED is required.
– Preferred qualifications include previous experience with computers and basic math skills.
– Experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality is advantageous.
– Prior experience in dispensing or optical services is also preferred.
– Physical capability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods is necessary.
– Completion of all required training courses as designated by Henry Ford Optimeyes is expected.
– Candidates must meet or exceed the core customer service responsibilities and standards as outlined in the HFHS Customer Service Policy.
– Continuous improvement of customer service skills is facilitated through ongoing training and in-services.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
– The position is located in a retail optical environment.
– Evening and weekend hours are required.
