Job Summary:
The Outage Manager is tasked with the comprehensive preparation, planning, execution, and completion of complex planned or emergent outage events related to gas turbines, steam turbines, and generator agreements. This role plays a critical part in shaping the business strategy for field fulfillment excellence within FieldCore. The Outage Manager must ensure consistent outage planning and execution while driving the adoption of best practices and integrating lessons learned. This position includes leading complex outages for assigned locations while striving to achieve target utilization levels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of complex outage event preparations (Planned/Emergent/Upgrade) from initiation to completion, including the development of outage schedules, planning for labor, tooling, and costs, as well as managing customer relations through pre- and post-outage meetings, mobilization planning, execution of Joint Commissioning Events (JCE), and final event closeout.
  • Serve as the onsite execution lead for large teams during assigned outages, ensuring adherence to Fulfillment-5 goals and requirements.
  • Manage cost tracking and productivity while assessing execution risks through Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and any necessary Service Warranty considerations.
  • Drive enhancements in on-time delivery, outage costs, and productivity; maintain accurate tracking files; and control man-hour costs and project pacing.
  • Lead the development of project quotations, including scoping work, assessing site conditions, and conducting preliminary safety and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Collaborate with customer operations teams throughout the turbine and generator shut-down, start-up, running, and performance testing phases.
  • Ensure diligent preparation, usage, review, storage, and delivery of execution documentation, including Field Procedures, Quality Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols, and Customer Outage Reports.
  • Utilize web-based applications for optimal allocation, preparation, planning, and forecasting of labor, tooling, and vendor management.
  • Respond promptly to forced outages or emergencies; be onsite as necessary to investigate and resolve site issues, restoring units to operational status efficiently.
  • Support the Customer Service Leader in technical communications with customer staff during outage execution.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for improvement and simplification of existing processes.
  • Exhibit flexibility to work during holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Be prepared to undertake additional duties that contribute to advancing our FieldCore vision while aligning with our organizational core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of four years of experience in the power generation industry.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with proven expertise in the maintenance of gas and steam turbines or generators (as required).
  • At least 3 years of specialized industry experience in outage planning and execution for gas and steam turbine generators and auxiliary systems.
  • Proficiency in English is required.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong project management and planning skills, with preference for experience using Primavera scheduling tools.
  • Proficient in PC applications, especially advanced Excel and web applications.
  • Capable of effectively interacting with all organizational levels and external customers.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to influence others.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas and steam turbines and generators, with a proven track record as a team leader in dynamic customer environments.

Compensation and Benefits:
The annual salary range for this position is $101,900 to $168,100. This is an exempt position not eligible for overtime.
