The Cashier position entails efficiently managing customer sales transactions at the front register. This role requires maintaining proper cash control, ensuring customer satisfaction, and protecting company assets. Cashiers are expected to assist customers when needed and uphold a friendly and energetic demeanor while adhering to all procedural guidelines established by the Front End Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a store walk prior to each shift to stay informed about promotional and sale items; perform produce walks and weekly testing.
  • Calculate bills, itemized lists, and tickets indicating the amount due.
  • Accept payments via cash, checks, credit cards, gift cards, or direct debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change owed to customers.
  • Operate the cash register by scanning items with price codes, manually entering PLU or UPC codes as necessary, compiling printed lists, and displaying transactions, tax, and rebates on the monitor screen.
  • Greet customers entering the store and promptly respond to their needs.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas, ensuring no personal items are present.
  • Issue coupons and rain checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred 1-2 years of experience in grocery retail within Front End department processes and procedures.
