As a Merchandiser with American Greetings, you will play a crucial role in fulfilling our mission to help people celebrate holidays and connect with each other through thoughtful gestures. We seek dedicated merchandisers to work independently across various retail locations, exhibiting strong organizational and time management skills to display and maintain inventory levels of our diverse celebration products, including greeting cards, gift wrap accessories, party goods, plush items, and more.
Compensation:
- The starting pay is $13.10 per hour, with two scheduled increases during the first year of employment (please note that rates may vary based on location).
- After six months of employment, the pay rate will increase to $13.80.
- After one year of continued employment, the pay rate will further increase to $14.50.
- We offer flexible work scheduling.
- Paid training is provided.
Route and Schedule:
This position will service retail locations at 3360 Pentagon Blvd, Beavercreek, OH 45431, and 2720 Towne Dr Ste 400, Dayton, OH. The average weekly hours are approximately 11 hours, with the potential to increase to an average of 19 hours per week during holiday periods.
The ideal candidate will be available during daytime hours, particularly on Monday mornings, to meet store requirements and service expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Service assigned stores, including merchandising and organizing product orders, displaying products within greeting card departments and other retail spaces, and maintaining orderly backroom areas, along with other inventory-related tasks as needed.
- Communicate any questions or concerns regarding service or schedules to management.
- Navigate a fast-paced retail environment using effective time management and organizational skills.
- Foster partnerships and build positive relationships with retail store associates and management during daytime business hours.
- Be available for additional working days and extended hours leading up to and immediately following major holidays.
- Assist with store resets, which may include minor fixture work, product assembly, relocation, or removal as requested.
- Review and plan your weekly service schedule and workload for assigned stores using a company-issued tablet.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Experience Required:
No prior experience is necessary, as we provide comprehensive training.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Access to reliable transportation, as most routes involve multiple retail locations.
- Reliable internet access to receive essential job information and updates.
- Technological competency to learn and use the company-provided tablet for training and daily tasks.
- Availability to meet scheduling needs, which may include occasional weekends and the days before and after major holidays (e.g., Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).
Physical Demands:
The role involves working both on the sales floor and in the back stockroom. Candidates should be prepared to push, pull, lift, and carry cartons, merchandise, and fixtures of up to 40 pounds throughout the sales floor and backrooms. You will need to stand, walk, stoop, and squat throughout your workday, with the possibility of using a step stool for certain tasks.
