As a Merchandiser at American Greetings, you will play an essential role in fulfilling our company’s purpose: helping people celebrate holidays, relationships, and life’s milestones. We seek dedicated merchandisers to work independently across various retail locations, employing your organizational and time management skills to effectively display and maintain our celebration products, including greeting cards, gift wrap accessories, party goods, plush items, and more.
Compensation:
- Starting pay is $12.60 per hour, with two scheduled increases within the first year (rates may vary based on location).
- After six months, the pay rate will increase to $13.30.
- After one year of continued service, the pay rate will rise to $14.00.
- Flexible work scheduling is available.

Route and Schedule:
This position will cover retail locations located at 6001 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown, OH, 44515. The average weekly hours are 12, with potential increases to around 20 hours per week during holiday seasons. The ideal candidate should be available for daytime hours, particularly on Monday mornings, to align with store needs and service requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Service stores on your assigned route by merchandising and organizing product orders, presenting products in greeting card departments and other retail areas, and maintaining organized backroom spaces.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding any service-related questions or scheduling concerns.
- Thrive in a fast-paced retail environment by utilizing strong time management and organizational skills.
- Build professional relationships with retail store associates and management during daytime hours.
- Be available for additional shifts and extended hours surrounding major holidays.
- Assist with store resets as necessary, which may involve minor fixture adjustments, product assembly, relocation, or removal.
- Plan and manage your weekly service schedule and tasks using a company-issued tablet.
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
Experience Required:
No prior experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive training.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Reliable transportation is necessary, as most routes include multiple retail locations.
- Must have consistent internet access to receive essential job updates and information.
- Technological competency to learn and use a company-provided tablet for training and daily tasks.

Physical Demands:
This role involves working both on the sales floor and in back stock areas. Candidates should be able to push, pull, lift, and carry boxes, merchandise, and fixtures weighing up to 40 pounds throughout the sales floor and backrooms. The ability to stand, walk, stoop, and squat for the duration of the workday is required. A step stool may be utilized for certain tasks.
