Job description:
The Youth Treatment Specialist is tasked with delivering essential daily care, guidance, and supervision to adolescents within a residential treatment program. This role involves collaborating with team members to oversee the treatment plans for individual residents while managing the daily functions of the residential unit.
Responsibilities:
- Foster a therapeutic environment characterized by warmth, empathy, and respect.
- Assist in the formulation, execution, and assessment of client treatment programs, facilitating services such as therapy, employment training, recreational activities, educational support, transportation, and more.
- Monitor and assess client behaviors, holding residents accountable through established agency interventions, while serving as a teacher, supporter, and role model in daily interactions.
- Utilize non-violent crisis intervention techniques (Aegis) as needed to manage situations involving residents posing a risk to themselves or others, and ensure the completion of necessary documentation related to such incidents.
- Provide a positive, stable role model presence for residents, balancing authority with a primary focus on supportive relationships.
- Display respect and understanding for the diverse needs and feelings of others, irrespective of their race, social status, ethnicity, or religious background, while nurturing patience and acceptance.
- Oversee the general health and wellness of clients, which includes assistance with meals, physical activities, personal hygiene, medical, dental, and vision care. Provide first aid or CPR when required and schedule appointments as necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure timely delivery.
- Transport residents to various appointments, activities, work engagements, and meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized records and reports of all activities related to the management of the residential program.
- Support the upkeep of a clean and orderly living environment by supervising and engaging with residents in the completion of assigned household tasks.
- Report any personal or physical property damage to the appropriate administrative personnel following established protocols.
- Actively participate in supervision and team meetings to share insights, provide feedback, and contribute to departmental planning. Seek and give feedback to supervisors for staff evaluations.
- Ensure timely compliance with Quality Assurance standards relevant to the scope of employee roles and functions.
- Uphold professional confidentiality at all times, safeguarding the rights of residents and their families in accordance with the agency’s Confidentiality Policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned in coordination with the home supervisor, assistant supervisor, or shift supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is highly preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or certification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with adolescents diagnosed with emotional or behavioral disorders is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Compliance with federally mandated vaccination requirements, including:
- Varicella: Two doses (at least 4 weeks apart) or evidence of past infection or immunity.
- MMR: Two doses (at least 4 weeks apart) or proof of immunity.
- DTaP: Completion of primary vaccination series plus one adult dose if childhood series was completed.
- Annual influenza vaccination.
- COVID-19 vaccination (fully vaccinated), with various acceptable vaccination regimens outlined.
Additional Requirements:
