Job description:
Models and delivers an exceptional and engaging customer experience. Responsible for processing sales at the assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in pharmacy practice in compliance with state and federal regulations. Utilizes pharmacy systems to gather patient and drug information and facilitates the processing of prescriptions.
Engages with customers and patients to provide assistance and support regarding products and services. Effectively resolves customer inquiries and concerns to ensure a positive shopping experience. Exemplifies and shares customer service best practices with team members, demonstrating key interpersonal skills such as effective greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, while employing Walgreens service traits to proactively meet customer needs and ensure satisfaction.
Delivers fast, friendly, and efficient service to customers. Suggests items for sale and facilitates trade-up and companion product recommendations. Accurately processes customer purchases, handles cash transactions, and manages refunds, returns, and exchanges as necessary. Supports customers in locating products within the store and maintains a clean and well-organized environment by keeping displays and counters orderly. Conducts inventory checks, manages merchandise pricing, and implements directives from store management regarding stock maintenance.
Assists the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager with various pharmacy operations tasks. This includes accurately entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, verifying correct medications, and checking for potential interactions. Reports any discrepancies immediately to the pharmacist and adheres to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and Quality Improvement initiatives. Maintains strict compliance with the principles of Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription-related activities.
Responds to telephone inquiries that do not necessitate a pharmacist’s intervention, including calls from physicians. Efficiently processes manual claims for third-party prescription services, and performs various clerical tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Aids in inventory management activities within the Pharmacy Department, such as ordering, unpacking, and properly storing pharmaceutical shipments, while ensuring adherence to company asset protection protocols. Completes necessary documentation for overages, shortages, and other discrepancies involving prescription drugs, and ensures compliance with state and local regulations concerning regulated products.
Constructs and maintains product displays, including those for promotions and seasonal sales, and executes resets and revisions as directed. Assists with food item segregation and adheres to specified policies for product placement and stock rotation. Demonstrates proficiency with store systems and equipment. Provides customer service in the photo area, offering services such as digital passport photos and promotional photo products, while fulfilling web pick-up responsibilities.
Contributes to the maintenance of a clean and organized store environment, upholding both exterior and interior standards. Complies with all company policies and procedures while fostering respectful relationships with colleagues. Completes special assignments and additional tasks as directed.
Pursues and maintains Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification through respective training programs and/or state-required certification. Actively participates in training sessions and completes required professional development tasks to enhance knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, staying updated on news and developments in the field.
Requires fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (with the exception of Puerto Rico) and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred qualifications include at least six months of retail experience, prior work experience with Walgreens, strong mathematical skills for accurately filling prescriptions, good computer proficiency, familiarity with store inventory control, and PTCB certification.
