Job description:
Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Responsible for registering sales on the assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service. In compliance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist under direct supervision in pharmacy practice. Utilizes pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
Engages with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Proactively resolves customer inquiries to ensure a positive experience. Shares customer service best practices with team members to foster a distinctive customer experience, emphasizing interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, in addition to Walgreens service traits including proactive help, identifying needs, and ensuring satisfaction.
Provides courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to all customers. Recommends items for sale, including trade-up and companion items. Operates the assigned cash register to register purchases, collect cash, and provide change as needed; processes voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as required. Assists customers in locating products within the OTC aisle when feasible.
Maintains clean and well-merchandised counters and shelves, takes inventory, and preserves records. Checks in and prices merchandise as directed by the store manager or shift leader. Performs various duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to accurately enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication correctness, and checking for potential interactions. Aids pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
Immediately reports prescription errors to the on-duty pharmacist and adheres to company policies concerning pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program, reviewing and complying with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Strictly follows the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing in all applicable prescription activities. Manages telephone calls requiring pharmacist attention, including communications with physicians. Processes manual claims for third-party program prescription services efficiently, alongside other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Supports the Pharmacy Department in managing inventory activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments. Maintains knowledge of company asset protection techniques and files claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damages involving prescription drugs. Ensures compliance with state and local regulations concerning regulated products, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
Constructs and maintains product displays, including promotional items, seasonal merchandise, and sales items, completing resets and revisions as instructed. Assists in the separation of food items and product placement as per policies to ensure proper stock rotation. Possesses working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photos and promotional photo products. Monitors online orders for the web pick-up service, fills orders, and delivers them to customers upon their arrival. Contributes to the upkeep of both exterior and interior store cleanliness and appearance by ensuring that the store is orderly. Complies with all company policies and procedures while fostering respectful relationships with coworkers. Completes special assignments and additional tasks as required.
Achieves and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification. Participates in training sessions and completes personal development programs as requested by the management team, thus acquiring continuing education credits. Maintains abreast of developments in healthcare and pharmacy.
External basic qualifications include fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (excluding Puerto Rico), along with a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Preferred qualifications encompass six months of experience in a retail environment, prior work experience with Walgreens, demonstrated math skills for accurate prescription filling, good computer skills, knowledge of store inventory control, and PTCB certification.
