Job description:
Provides pharmacy consulting services with empathy, guiding patients on the effective use of medications and raising awareness about potential drug interactions. This role is responsible for overseeing the pharmacy department’s operations, including workflow management, continuous quality improvement, adherence to policies and procedures, and compliance with both internal and external regulatory bodies. Additionally, the position encompasses pharmacy sales, expense control, inventory management, and maintaining a positive image through accurate prescription filling and the delivery of exceptional patient service to providers, pharmaceutical partners, and payers, while safeguarding departmental resources.
Patient Experience
- Ensures that pharmacy personnel deliver hospitable service and information, cultivating a warm and distinctive patient experience through interpersonal habits such as greeting, maintaining eye contact, and demonstrating courtesy, aligned with Walgreens service principles of curiosity, proactive assistance, empathy, and inclusivity.
- Responds promptly to patient inquiries and complaints, addressing concerns effectively to ensure a positive experience.
Operations

- Collaborates with the Registered Manager, Local Specialty Pharmacy, to solicit third-party prescription business and identify growth opportunities within Walgreens’ Specialty Pharmacy at the site.
- If applicable to Health System Pharmacy locations, assists the Registered Manager in enhancing relationships with health systems to drive business growth.
People & Performance Management
- Implements the department’s organizational structure through effective hiring, scheduling, delegating responsibilities, and managing personnel changes.
- Focuses on enhancing departmental performance via employee morale and motivation, addressing complaints appropriately, and applying constructive discipline in accordance with company policies.
- Ensures compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards and promotes a harassment-free workplace, maintaining open communication with staff.
- Manages payroll expenses, including overtime, and oversees pharmacy personnel performance and compliance with licensure and training requirements.

External Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the relevant states within the district.
- Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience that includes prescription filling, verification, compliance, operations, and technology systems.
- Demonstrated experience in dispensing prescriptions with an understanding of applicable controlled substance laws.
