Job description:
Provides compassionate pharmacy consulting services to patients, ensuring effective medication use and awareness of drug interactions. Delivers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome assessments. Upholds accuracy in the compounding, reviewing, dispensing, and verification of prescribed medications in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Oversees an efficient pharmacy workflow aimed at optimizing financial performance, managing inventory, and enhancing patient experience. Additionally, leads pharmacy staff performance and engagement initiatives, fostering professional development through targeted training, focused coaching, and formal performance management processes.
Engages patients by warmly welcoming them and addressing their needs with available products and services. Resolves patient inquiries and issues promptly to ensure a positive experience. Models customer service excellence and shares best practices with team members, fostering an environment that prioritizes care and inclusivity. Proactively connects with patients, enhancing their awareness of healthcare services offered, and transforming the role of pharmacists from transactional to interpersonal providers of care. Maintains proficiency in pharmacy technology systems, supporting staff and patients while exploring avenues for productivity enhancement. Handles insurance claim processing and resolves patient issues through collaboration with insurance entities and healthcare providers. Engages with medical professionals to clarify prescriptions and discuss alternative medications as necessary.
Conducts clinical and wellness services, including immunizations and diagnostic testing, to support comprehensive patient care. Partners with centralized support teams for patient registration and resolution of issues—conducting virtual consultations in accordance with company guidelines in applicable settings. Oversees the maintenance and organization of the pharmacy department to ensure an efficient and welcoming environment. Prepares and submits required records and reports as mandated by state and federal regulations.
Collaborates with the Store Manager on the hiring and management of pharmacy staff, ensuring compliance with employment laws. Associates with management to establish clear expectations, promote teamwork, and recognize staff performance through reward initiatives. Identifies high-potential team members, fostering career progression while addressing employee relations and maintaining overall morale through effective management practices.
Maintains required licensing, credentialing, and certifications in compliance with federal and state regulations to deliver clinical services. Completes necessary training and education to further professional development, seeking constructive feedback and utilizing mentorship from leadership.
Supports the Store Manager in disseminating relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff. Cultivates relationships with local healthcare providers to promote pharmacy services and support community health initiatives.
External Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid pharmacist licensure in the relevant states.
- Certification as an Immunizer or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience with a focus on prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, and pharmacy operations. Some states may have specific requirements regarding pharmacy experience.
- Demonstrable experience in prescription dispensing that reflects a strong knowledge of applicable controlled substance laws.
