Essential Functions of the Cook Position:

  • Arrive at work in a professionally presented, neat, and clean uniform
  • Greet all guests in a friendly and positive manner, fostering personal connections to ensure they feel welcomed and valued
  • Anticipate and fulfill the needs and expectations of our guests, then strive to exceed them
  • Prepare all necessary items in accordance with make sheets and recipes
  • Set up service units with required items
  • Serve items following established portion and presentation standards
  • Inform the Kitchen Supervisor of anticipated shortages
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas and equipment
  • Assist the Kitchen Supervisor in ensuring kitchen security and safety
  • Set up, maintain, and break down the prep cook station
  • Requisition necessary items for menu item preparation
  • Comply with local health and safety regulations
  • Maintain logs as required by health authorities
  • Properly cover, date, and store all reusable leftover products
  • Uphold the highest sanitary standards
  • Exhibit regular attendance and punctuality
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management

Uniform and Appearance Guidelines for Cooks:
Uniform: A uniform shirt and name tag will be provided. Team members are responsible for Suburban Inns-approved black slacks and black, close-toed, non-slip shoes.

Appearance: Visible earrings are permitted in the ears only; they must be covered at all other times during the shift. Hair must be of a natural color and maintained in a well-groomed manner. This policy will be enforced by the position’s supervisor without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, height, weight, genetics, familial status, veteran status, or any other protected characteristics. The Vice President of Operations retains the authority to override any decisions made by the position’s supervisor.
