Position Description: Private Duty Caregiver
The Detroit Free Press has recognized Homestead as a top workplace, and we are currently seeking dedicated Private Duty Caregivers in the Troy, MI area.
As a caregiver at Homestead Home Health Care, you will play an essential role in enriching the lives of our elderly clients by providing both physical and emotional support. Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize transfer assistive devices, such as Hoyer lifts, sit-to-stand devices, gait belts, and slide boards.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility.
- Evaluate changes in clients’ health and collaborate with other healthcare team members as necessary.
- Maintain a clean living environment, which may include light housekeeping duties.
- Use and clean medical devices, such as catheters, colostomy bags, and oxygen supplies.
- Assess for changes in clients’ conditions and promptly communicate findings to supervisory staff.
- Develop and implement engaging life enrichment activities for clients.
- Follow established schedules and assist clients with repositioning as needed.
- Provide transportation for clients to medical appointments or shopping outings.
- Complete all required documentation and charting accurately.
- Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Adhere to all Homestead policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of caregiving experience.
- Experience in administering medications.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation, with travel limited to a maximum of 25 miles.
- Weekend availability is required.
