Job description:
Oversee and provide leadership for the production activities within the plant, ensuring the safe achievement of quality and productivity Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets. Develop problem-solving teams, continuously monitor KPI performance, and promptly initiate corrective actions when hourly targets are not met.

Key Responsibilities:

– Supervise all departmental employees, managing the flow of production while fostering teamwork across all shifts.
– Conduct, update, and assess the employee training matrix; responsible for completing performance evaluations and providing coaching and counseling to hourly employees.
– Ensure the training validation of team members, uphold safety standards on the shop floor, maintain housekeeping, and oversee general maintenance.
– Actively participate in all aspects of quality control related to daily production operations.
– Monitor scrap generation on a daily basis, initiating corrective actions to minimize scrap and meet Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets.
– Verify and ensure adherence to work standards, First Piece Sheets, quality checkpoint sheets, and all other production-related documentation is current and accessible. Complete Layered Process Audits (LPAs) and Safety-First audits.
– Provide coaching and implement disciplinary actions for employees as needed.
– Engage in forward-thinking and self-motivated initiatives aimed at improving production floor systems and processes.
– Participate in problem-solving and corrective action efforts related to enhancements on the production floor.
– Lead Shift Hand-off Meetings to discuss safety, quality, delivery, production, team performance, continuous improvement activities, scrap, and machine downtime.
– Collaborate with, coach, and guide Team Leaders across all shifts.
– Schedule and communicate overtime requirements as necessary.
– Monitor employee vacation, attendance, and time-entry within your department.
– Support, enforce, and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

– Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
– Work Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with the ability to work overtime as needed.
– Proven supervisory experience.
– A minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly environments.
– Experience in an automotive union setting is preferred.
– Strong comprehension of product and production processes.
– Flexibility in schedule and the ability to work overtime based on customer requirements.
– Knowledge of quality control standards and systems.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse individuals.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
– Good reasoning capabilities to address a variety of business challenges.
– Exceptional planning and organizational skills, effectively managing multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
