Job description:
The Program Coordinator is essential to the development, recruitment, execution, and assessment of adaptive sports programs, ensuring the provision of high-quality, inclusive experiences. This role entails overseeing the daily operations of programs designed for individuals with disabilities, Veterans, families, volunteers, donors, community members, and partner organizations.
The primary areas of focus will be on the paddling and skiing programs, while also extending support across all aspects of adaptive programming. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with team members to enhance participant engagement, streamline program efficiency, and strengthen community relationships to advance the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with the Program Executive Director and lead volunteers to establish specific program goals and objectives, which include identifying, developing, and implementing program opportunities.
– Work alongside the Program Executive Director to ascertain necessary resources, encompassing program supplies, repair parts, venue arrangements, participant marketing, and volunteer coordination.
– Execute ASC program delivery procedures at all events as outlined in pre-event, event delivery, and post-event protocols.
– Contribute to the training of all program volunteers and interns, ensuring they are adequately prepared for their roles.
– Guarantee the effective delivery of high-quality programs to all athletes.
– Assist the Program Executive Director with program planning processes, including calendar management, equipment logistics, participant recruitment, communication with partner staff, and venue setups.
– Support the Program Executive Director and lead volunteers in various aspects of program delivery, including registration, risk management and safety, volunteer oversight, adaptive sport delivery, and post-event dismantling.
– Assist with post-event responsibilities, such as equipment storage, equipment repairs, data entry, reporting, and follow-ups with participants, volunteers, and community members as required.
– Ensure adherence to safety and risk management protocols relevant to specific programs.
– Confirm that essential program equipment is available and in functional condition for events, arranging for additional equipment and regular maintenance as needed.
– Engage in recruitment efforts for program participants by leveraging available resources to maximize event participation.
– Provide direct client services, support, and instruction in all programs as warranted.
– Collaborate effectively with the broader team to nurture a dynamic work environment and ensure exceptional program delivery.
– Adhere to policies and procedures as specified in ASC manuals.
– Report any concerns or issues directly to the supervisor.
– Participate in additional duties as assigned.
Time Allocation:
– The Program Coordinator will dedicate 40% of their time to internal operations and 60% to fieldwork, directly leading programming efforts and managing volunteers. This is not a remote position.
Qualifications and Experience:
– A bachelor’s degree or higher in Sports or Recreation Management, Adapted Physical Education, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
– Substantial knowledge and experience in adaptive sports and recreation, disability awareness, and sport-specific disciplines.
– Preferred certifications in PSIA, ACA, PMBIA, or other adaptive areas.
– Strong organizational, management, and leadership capabilities.
– Proficiency in prioritizing projects to optimize workflow, using independent judgment in decision-making that impacts daily operations at ASC.
– Ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including potential sponsors, event managers, volunteers, participants with special needs, the Board of Directors, and program staff.
– First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification is required within three months of employment.
