Job description:
As an Energy Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of leading a project management team dedicated to the planning, organization, and coordination of activities involved in engineering, design, procurement, and construction for major capital projects and programs. Your role will encompass managing projects of significant complexity and acting as the primary liaison with clients, ensuring effective communication and compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project management team in successfully planning, organizing, and executing all activities related to major capital projects and programs.
- Manage complex projects and/or programs with a focus on meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to establish and maintain clear communication channels throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as the principal contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing updates on project progress.
- Promote and facilitate the implementation of safety and health programs among project teams, fostering a culture of safe work practices.
- Encourage adherence to environmental programs in accordance with company policies and government regulations, ensuring environmental protection is prioritized.
- Cultivate a client-centric culture that builds trust and confidence, enhancing value for all stakeholders involved.
- Conduct thorough technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and other construction documents to ensure compliance with client standards and specifications.
- Organize and lead project planning and status meetings to ensure adherence to established schedules and budgets.
- Provide regular updates on the engineering, construction, and financial status of projects to relevant management teams.
- Oversee the coordination of construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and pre-award project site walk-downs.
- Act as the single point of contact for construction regarding submittals, reviews, and coordination of essential project information and documentation.
- Identify and communicate necessary outages in a timely manner to prevent scheduling conflicts with other projects.
- Ensure that all required permits are secured for fieldwork and that approvals from relevant parties are obtained promptly.
- Mentor and train Project Managers and Project Coordinators as necessary to promote professional development.
- Assist Portfolio Managers with the organization, preparation, and reporting of significant activities associated with construction projects and programs.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in utility project management.
- A minimum of 4-10 years of experience in project management, project controls, or a closely related field, with at least five years specifically in project management.
- Knowledge of the electric utility sector is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by effective leadership and organizational capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP certification is preferred.
Work Environment
This position is fully remote, requiring occasional travel (approximately 10%) to various worksites. Expenses for hotel and mileage are reimbursable.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $60.00 – $76.00 per hour. Eligibility criteria apply to certain benefits, which may vary based on job classification and length of employment.
