Job description:

As an Energy Project Manager, you will lead a project management team focused on the planning, organization, and coordination of all activities related to the engineering, design, procurement, and construction of major capital projects and programs. You will oversee high-complexity projects and serve as the primary liaison with clients, ensuring effective communication and adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a project management team to effectively plan, organize, and coordinate activities related to major capital projects and programs.
  • Manage projects and/or programs of high complexity.
  • Coordinate communication among all relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding project developments.
  • Facilitate the implementation of safety and health initiatives within project teams while promoting safe work practices.
  • Oversee the integration of environmental programs with project teams to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Foster a client-centric culture that builds trust and confidence among clients, enhancing value for all stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and other construction documents to ensure alignment with client standards and specifications.
  • Organize and lead project planning and status meetings to monitor schedule and financial adherence.
  • Provide regular updates on the engineering, construction, and budget status of each project to relevant management teams.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and site walk-downs prior to project award.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for construction regarding submittals, reviews, and necessary project information and documentation.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage necessary outages to prevent schedule conflicts and interruptions with other projects.
  • Ensure that all required permits are obtained for fieldwork and that necessary approvals are secured from relevant authorities.
  • Mentor and provide training to Project Managers and Project Coordinators as needed.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with the coordination, preparation, and reporting of significant activities associated with construction projects and programs.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field; relevant utility project management experience is also acceptable.
  • A minimum of 4-10+ years of experience in project management or project controls, with at least five years in a project management role.
  • Preferred knowledge of electric utility operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Effective leadership and organizational capabilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PMP certification is preferred.

Work Environment
This position is fully remote, with occasional travel (approximately 10%) to worksites required. Expenses for hotel and mileage will be reimbursed.

Pay and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $60.00 – $76.00 per hour. Eligibility for benefits may vary based on job classification and length of employment.
