Actalent Services (formerly EASi LLC) is seeking a Project Manager for a permanent leadership position to support plant engineering services projects within our Manufacturing Engineering Practice. This role provides remote flexibility with limited travel (under 20%) for candidates based in proximity to Actalent’s engineering offices in Troy, MI, or Kansas City.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong expertise in piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and possess project engineering experience across various manufacturing industries and environments.
The Project Manager will oversee multiple outsourced plant engineering projects through all stages of development, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Responsibilities include collaborating with program management to source or hire Actalent engineering consultants/employees for projects, and coordinating with internal support functions to provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring compliance with Cost, Quality, and Timing requirements. This role is crucial for maintaining and nurturing relationships with key client stakeholders and Actalent’s onsite/offsite engineering team members to optimize project performance.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee multiple plant engineering projects throughout all phases of development, adhering to Actalent’s Services Management Framework.
- Ensure strict compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, company procedures, and safety protocols.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, budgets, schedules, and related documentation, including change management and risk mitigation strategies.
- Create tracking methods to monitor customer and internal KPIs.
- Collaborate closely within Actalent’s Delivery Operations to align project management with account management efforts.
- Distribute workflow from customers to Actalent’s engineering and design consultants.
- Conduct periodic status meetings and design reviews with customers and team members to evaluate progress against project plans.
- Maintain robust relationships with all client stakeholders.
- Employ strong communication, presentation, time management, organization, and planning skills to successfully achieve program goals and objectives.
- Prepare and present status reports to the management of Actalent Services and relevant client recipients.
Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in project management.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in interpreting and managing piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) is required.
- Demonstrated experience in plant build and installation oversight, contractor selection, management, and construction management is essential.
- Experience in plant engineering or project engineering across multiple industries (e.g., food & beverage processing, transportation/heavy equipment, industrial products manufacturing, package/parcel handling environments) is required; expertise in the food processing industry is highly desirable.
- Previous work experience with engineering services providers is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively present to large customer groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing large, dispersed teams with diverse skill sets.
- Collaborative team player with the capacity to operate effectively in a cross-functional and virtual environment.
- Willingness to travel to client sites or other Actalent engineering centers as necessary, up to 10%.
- PMP certification is a plus; proven knowledge of project management methodologies is required.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other PC applications.
Pay and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 – $125,000.00 annually, with the potential for a $10,000 annual bonus, participation in an employee profit-sharing program, four weeks of paid time off, six paid holidays, a monthly cell phone allowance, a 401(k) with company match, and comprehensive health benefits.
