Job description:

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive psychiatric care plans for patients/offenders, informed by assessments of their needs and challenges.
  • Formulate measurable goals and tailored interventions for each patient/offender.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary mental health treatment team, providing psychiatric nursing services to individuals with mental health disorders.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services to patients/offenders in need.
  • Conduct thorough psychiatric screenings and nursing assessments, contributing to the formulation of effective treatment plans.
  • Provide education on medication management and facilitate therapeutic groups (e.g., medication compliance, sleep hygiene) as assigned.
  • Enforce special safety protocols for suicide and escape prevention, ensuring proper documentation and appropriateness of restraint/seclusion measures for patients/offenders, considering their unique needs.
  • Monitor and assess patients’ physical and emotional responses to medications and therapies.
  • Submit comprehensive reports to the psychiatrist and relevant treatment team members in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation within patients’ records.
  • Serve as a mental health liaison to enhance communication and care delivery.
  • Assist psychiatrists and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) during psychiatric evaluations.
  • Accurately record and facilitate the implementation of physician/psychiatrist/CNS orders.
  • Organize and coordinate psychiatric appointments effectively.
  • Provide professional nursing care, including vital sign assessments, medical evaluations, and medication administration to patients/offenders.
  • Deliver direct nursing care by observing, assessing, and documenting patient symptoms, reactions, and progress, making referrals as necessary.
  • Conduct psychiatric nursing rounds to ensure ongoing patient monitoring.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, providing immediate care when required.
  • Develop and maintain psychiatric nursing care plans.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new staff members.
  • Complete various forms and reports, including those related to quality assurance and medication compliance.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as directed.

Starting pay is approximately $88,000, depending on location and shift assignments. Qualifications:
