Job description:
The selected candidate will serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert in communications, acting as the primary point of contact for related issues, while maintaining a strictly non-agent role with respect to Government representation. The individual will collaborate closely with organizational subject matter experts to ensure that communication materials are accurate and timely.
Key responsibilities include supporting executive engagements with both internal and external stakeholders, particularly at high levels of Government. The candidate will be tasked with integrating daily operational activities by developing, documenting, and adhering to the established office management and administrative procedures as defined in the organization’s Standard Operating Procedures.
The position involves strategic planning and communication efforts with organizational leadership and various entities, including the Department of the Army, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)), external program executive offices, stakeholders, and relevant Government contractors.
The applicant will be responsible for planning, directing, and executing strategic communication campaigns that effectively target audiences and convey organizational objectives. They will be expected to design compelling messages and select appropriate communication channels to achieve intended outcomes while analyzing communication results to refine future strategies.
Additionally, the candidate will create, develop, and implement program-specific Strategic Communication Plans in alignment with organizational leadership directions and present these plans to senior leaders, including those at ASA(ALT) and the Office of the Chief Legislative Liaison.
Support functions will include but are not limited to:
- Responding to public inquiries
- Engaging with media
- Handling congressional inquiries
- Managing web content
- Coordinating events and exhibits
Required Skills:
Given the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite, along with the ability to obtain security clearance. The candidate should have a master’s degree in a specialized field combined with a minimum of six years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with eight years of experience, an associate’s degree with ten years, or a high school diploma with sixteen years of experience.
The specialized degree should be in Communications/Public Affairs or a related field, and applicable experience must encompass the area of Communications/Public Affairs. Candidates should possess a minimum of seven cumulative years of relevant work experience within the last ten years in public communications or public affairs, along with specific experience in supporting tracked/wheeled combat vehicle programs and major Army weapon systems of considerable value.
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
