Are you a fluent speaker of Japanese and English who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment? If so, our client is seeking a Senior Buyer to join their Purchasing Supplier Development department and offers a fulfilling career opportunity. This position involves engaging with both domestic and international organizations, focusing on the establishment and maintenance of business relationships while meeting company cost targets.

Our client is a comprehensive tier-one supplier specializing in the design and production of accessories and electronic components. The Ohio facility supports robust operations in plastic molding and mold design, construction, and production engineering, complemented by dedicated teams in Quality, Assembly, Sales, and Customer Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, obtain approval for, and execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers, aimed at establishing, achieving, maintaining, and enhancing cost targets for new models and mass production.
  • Research, evaluate, and procure electronic automotive components for trial events.
  • Identify and select suppliers to ensure stable quality, competitive pricing, and timely delivery, while fostering effective supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers and manage quotation processes.
  • Facilitate timely communication with both domestic and international companies (e.g., STJ, ASI, SSZ) regarding design changes and mass production products.
  • Issue necessary supplier documentation, including contracts, agreements, forecasts, and Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
  • Maintain Bill of Material (BOM) documentation for each new model.
  • Conduct accurate and timely management of quotations.
  • Research and monitor industry trends, including sourcing, technology, and market pricing.
  • Provide logistical reporting.
  • Resolve issues with international suppliers.
  • Assist in translation and communication with international Japanese companies.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both Japanese and English is required; proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Purchasing, Sales, Quality Control, or Engineering.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with the supplier evaluation and selection process.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry trends and international standards for conducting business.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in reviewing financial statements and drawings.
  • Proficient in mathematics and Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment for 7.5 hours per day, with an additional 0.5 hours in a manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional lifting (maximum 40 lbs) for up to 0.5 hours per day.
