Job description:
Oversee the daily operations of the assigned Quality Control (QC) laboratory during the designated shift. Review all products approved in the QC lab, taking necessary actions to ensure the final quality of the products. Conduct quality control tests and make adjustments to in-process goods concerning color, viscosity, particle size, and other relevant parameters. You will have authorization to tag and release products in multiple QC labs and collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) personnel to identify and rectify issues across product lines.
Responsibilities:
- Execute quality control tests on incoming raw materials.
- Work in conjunction with Research and Development (R&D) and Manufacturing personnel to reduce the production of sub-standard products.
- Recommend appropriate dispositions for sub-standard and obsolete inventory.
- Provide training to personnel regarding quality control operations.
- Operate diverse QC equipment effectively.
- Conduct viscosity, melt point, weight per gallon, let downs, and color spectrometer tests, adjusting colors as deemed necessary based on evaluations.
- Utilize visual methods for color adjustments.
- Manage service for wet and conventional color dispersions, including orange, yellow, blue, and green.
- Assess fluorescent pigments sourced from the adjacent plant.
- Comply with laboratory safety and housekeeping standards.
- Assist in developing new or refined quality control procedures.
- Maintain inventory of QC supplies and prepare standard vehicles for in-process testing.
- Submit inventory orders to the supervisor to ensure adequate stock of QC supplies.
- Uphold quality control standards, including retention samples and records.
- Ensure effective communication to facilitate seamless shift transitions.
- Assist in fulfilling assigned Technical Service Requests from R&D/QA.
- Conduct testing and analysis related to product quality complaints.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in quality control and laboratory practices
- Strong foundation in chemistry and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Knowledge of wet chemistry, titration, and chemical analysis
- Familiarity with viscosity testing and quality assurance
- Experience in paint preparation and paint mixing/matching software
- Background in paint manufacturing and lab testing procedures

This role is primarily based in the laboratory, with occasional requirements to collect samples from the production floor.
