Located in Sturgis, MI, the Quality Systems Supervisor plays a critical role within our Abbott Nutrition division, which specializes in developing scientifically-backed nutrition products aimed at all age groups—from promoting healthy growth in infants and children to maintaining vitality in adults. The Quality Systems Supervisor is responsible for leading the Batch Auditing Team, overseeing the final release of products to market while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and divisional standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and maintaining a robust quality system, addressing issues related to work orders, product processing, filling, and release.
  • Managing team schedules, overseeing overtime budgets, and effectively communicating potential issues to logistics and production planning that may affect timely product releases.
  • Reviewing and issuing work orders, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including those governing Infant Formula, Food GMPs, Kosher Law, and Low Acid Food Regulations.
  • Storing and maintaining documentation to adhere to Corporate and Division policies, maintaining a state of audit readiness.
  • Collaborating with Plant management, the Division, and other pertinent groups to resolve documentation issues.
  • Supporting audits by FDA, Corporate Compliance, and Plant Sanitation and Housekeeping.
  • Maintaining and updating budgetary plans.
  • Communicating necessary documentation to plant and divisional stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating surveillance batch execution within the Division.
  • Developing and distributing quality reports on routine QA data and issues pertaining to Quality Systems responsibilities.
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations for direct reports and managing their individual performance development plans.
  • Ensuring all department employees receive necessary training and support for professional development.

Education and Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, a Science-related Technical Field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and/or Manufacturing, with a preference for 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, multitasking capabilities, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Proficient understanding of Food Safety Regulations, Division and Corporate Policies, and the manufacturing and distribution processes of nutritional products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and requirements specific to infant formula and nutritional products.
  • Technical knowledge or experience in areas such as mixing, statistics, chemistry, and microbiology is advantageous.

The base salary for this position ranges from $75,300.00 to $150,700.00, with potential variations in specific locations.
