In this role, based in our Sturgis, MI location within the Abbott Nutrition division, you will be part of a team that develops science-based nutrition products for individuals of all ages, contributing to the health and well-being of millions globally through our renowned brands, including Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna®. The Quality Systems Supervisor plays a pivotal role in leading the Batch Auditing Team, overseeing the final product release, and ensuring that all batches comply with relevant regulations and divisional standards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Resolve issues related to work orders, processing, filling, and product release.
- Manage work schedules and budget overtime while effectively communicating any issues to logistics and production planning that may affect product release timelines.
- Review and issue work orders, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including Infant Formula Regulations, Food GMPs, Kosher Law, and Low Acid Food Regulations.
- Store and maintain all document files in accordance with Corporate and Division policies to ensure audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Plant management, Division, and other relevant groups to address document-related issues.
- Support FDA, Corporate Compliance, and Plant Sanitation and Housekeeping audits.
- Maintain and update budgetary plans.
- Provide document information to the plant and Division, ensuring timely issuance of all documents.
- Coordinate surveillance batch execution for the Division.
- Generate and distribute quality reports concerning identified issues, routine QA data, and relevant systems under Quality Systems responsibility.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and manage performance development plans for all direct reports.
- Ensure that all necessary training is provided and completed by departmental employees.
- Foster and support team development initiatives.
Education and Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, a Science Technical Field, or equivalent experience is required.
- The ideal candidate should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and/or Manufacturing, with a preference for 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, drive results, and make sound business decisions independently are required.
- A solid understanding of Food Safety Regulations, as well as Division and Corporate Policies related to the manufacturing and distribution of nutritional products, is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.
- Technical knowledge or experience, particularly in areas such as mixing, statistics, chemistry, and microbiology, is preferred.
The base salary for this position ranges from $75,300.00 to $150,700.00. The pay range may vary in specific locations.
